Tours
If you are new to our preschool and are considering enrolling your child, we encourage you to visit our school for a tour in January or early February. We offer tours Monday through Friday at 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM until all tour spots are filled. We restrict tours at other times, in order to limit disruptions to the learning environment of current students. To schedule a tour, please contact The Ark Preschool at 972-771-5501 in advance. We look forward to hearing from you!
**TOUR SCHEDULE UPDATE: Thank you for your interest in our preschool! Our tour schedule is now fully booked. As a new family to our school, we encourage you to enroll your child for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year by securing a spot through our online enrollment on Monday, February 24th at 6AM. Once your child’s spot is confirmed, we will be happy to schedule a tour before the enrollment fee is due, allowing you to make the final decision with confidence.
Next Steps
1. Immediately after submitting an Enrollment Request Form, you will recieve a "pop-up" confirmation message on the screen that your request has been received.
2. Next, you will receive an email within 48-72 hours with an update on your child's enrollment status, including whether they have been accepted into the program or placed on the waitlist. The email will also include instructions for setting up an account to pay the enrollment fee.
Waitlist
If the number of enrollment requests exceeds the available spaces that we have, we will create a waitlist for each age group based on the order in which requests were submitted. As space becomes available, we will reach out to families on the waitlist to offer the open spot.
*Important: Waitlists do not automatically carry over to the next school year. If your child is on the current waitlist and isn’t placed in our program, you will need to re-enroll them for the upcoming school year.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are your school hours?
Our school hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:45 AM to 2:15 PM. We follow the Rockwall ISD school year calendar, with a few exceptions. See the Parking/Calendar tab for more information.
Do you offer extended care?
Yes, we offer extended care for currently enrolled students before and after school, Monday through Friday, in Building A. AM Extended Care is available from 8:00 AM to 8:35 AM, and PM Extended Care is available from 2:20 PM to 3:15 PM. The fee is charged per child each time AM or PM Extended Care is used. Late fees will apply for students picked up after 3:15 PM.
What should my child wear to school?
We suggest sending your child to school in comfortable tennis shoes and play clothes that are okay to get messy—perfect for climbing, riding trikes, painting, and exploring with sand and water. When a change of clothes is needed, please choose items your child can easily manage on their own to promote independence.
What will my child need at school?
Your child will need a nap mat and a backpack large enough to hold their lunch, water bottle/ "sippy" cup, diapers or Pull-ups as needed (labeled on the front), and a full change of weather-appropriate clothes, including underwear (as needed), socks, shoes, and a jacket. Please ensure all items are clearly labeled with your child’s name.
What should I pack in my child's lunch?
Proper nutrition plays a key role in your child’s growth and development. For lunch, pack non-perishable items like sandwiches, cheese, fruit, and veggies. Don't forget an ice pack to keep things cool! We’re unable to heat lunches, so if you are sending soup or pasta, please use a thermos to keep it warm.
Are you a nut-free facility?
Yes, we are a nut-free facility. To ensure the safety of all students, we ask that you do not send any nuts or nut-based products (such as peanut butter, almond butter, or cashew butter) with your child. SunButter, made from sunflower seeds, and WowButter are the recommended alternatives. Please be sure to clearly label the container so that teachers can easily identify it.
How can I help my child to be prepared for preschool?
If your child hasn’t had much time away from you yet, try giving them chances to practice saying goodbye and gaining some independence. Consider attending a Sunday church service and dropping the kids off at the church nursery through Children's Ministry, or plan a fun date night with a trusted babysitter. It helps them realize that while you may be apart for a while, you’ll always come back. Encourage their excitement and joy for their new school adventure.
Do you accept toy donations?
Yes! We gladly welcome toy donations year-round! We’re particularly in need of toys in good condition and gently used books for children ages 2 to 5 years old. Donations can be dropped off at either school office. Every donation you make plays a direct role in enriching the learning and play experiences of our students. Your generosity means the world to us, and we are truly thankful for your continued support of our school community! Thank you!
When was The Ark Preschool founded?
The Ark Preschool, originally named A Beary Special Day, was founded in 1987 by Erika Crump, Margaret Mayo, Mary Jo Allman, Nancy Underwood, Lynne Sales, Kathi Whitt, and Bobbie Fleming with a mission to serve the children and families of the Rockwall area. In 2003, the preschool, in partnership with First United Methodist Church of Rockwall, relocated to its current location on Yellow Jacket Lane, where it has continued to grow and serve the community.
For over 35 years, The Ark Preschool has established a lasting presence, offering a nurturing and enriching Christian environment for young children. Its traditions have been shaped by generations of dedicated women who have been passionate advocates for early childhood education.
The efforts of all of those who have contributed to the school over the years continue to inspire and guide the current teachers and staff each day. They take pride in the opportunity to uphold the vision that was entrusted to them.
